Mental health is something that can overcome anyone no matter your age or gender. It also comes in many different formats too! So deciphering what will work for you can be difficult.
We’ve curated a list of our top 5 tips that help us when we’re feeling a little low.
1. Treat yourself to great sleep!
A quality slumber can make a huge difference to how we feel both physically and mentally, so it’s important to get enough
2. Keeping active!
It is believed that performing exercise releases chemicals in your brain that make you feel good and that exercising regularly can boost your self-esteem, help you concentrate, sleep and even feel better. Exercise also keeps the brain and your other vital organs healthy.
3. Talk to someone; Anyone!
Although this can be extremely hard, finding the courage to talk to someone about how you feel will really lift a weight from your chest. Talking to a friendly face, a real life, in-person social interaction with someone who cares (you really don’t realise how many people care about you) is one of the most effective ways to calm your nervous system and relieve stress.
4. Find Purpose and Meaning
This will be completely different for everyone and there’s an unlimited number of ways this could go, but why not try one of these?
i. Volunteer with someone or something that makes you feel useful
ii. Invest your time and efforts into relationships and quality time with people who matter the most to you
iii. Look out for others. Being their for your mate, who truly might be feeling pretty low too can feel extremely rewarding
iv. Take up a sport like football, basketball, tennis or something a little more different like curling
v. Start a club. Finding like-minded people can be an awesome thing
vi. Go hiking. Fresh air in your lungs can really take the edge off
5. Get help if you need it
If you or a loved one needs support, there are many programs and resources that are available to you.
