Father’s Day

We celebrate Father’s Day to honour fatherhood, paternal bonds and the influence of fathers in our society. On this day, we show our heartfelt appreciation to our fathers, husbands, grandfathers, brothers, uncles, and all significant male figures in our life. Fathers, just as mothers, are vital in the emotional development and complete well-being of a child. The role fathers fill in a child’s life, cannot be filled by any other person. As the head of a family, everyone looks up to the ‘man of the house’. Fathers are special people we depend on for strength. Fathers who are involved in their family’s affairs, provide a sense of physical and emotional security for the entire family. Every child yearns for a father’s praise and works very hard to make his or her father proud.

The kind of relationship a father has with his children, determines the relationships his children will build with others outside the family. Daughters mainly dwell on their fathers for security and emotional support. A father shows his daughter what a good relationship with a man is like. The good characters a daughter sees in her father, is what she looks for, in a spouse. A daughter who receives compliments from her father and is made known of her worth, is not swayed when any other man tries to persuade her with compliments; she knows she is invaluable and is confident in herself. Sons on the  other hand, look up to their fathers and learn their character, to build on theirs; they grow to be like their fathers. Every son learns how a father treats his wife, children, family members and people outside the family, and grows up to do same.

A father who is always present and is involved in his family’s affairs (even the most trivial ones), is what every family wishes for.

We at Dialogue Genitalia Ghana would like to say AYEKOO to all fathers. We appreciate your good works, sacrifices and time.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
